Campbell Tickell Board Survey 2020

In this webinar, CT Senior Consultant, Stephen Bull and Consultant, Sade Joseph, share the main themes from our Board Survey 2020.

The survey was conducted to provide a current picture of the latest trends and developments within the social housing sector in relation to:

  • The size, complexity and organisational/governance structure of housing associations;
  • Approaches to non-executive remuneration;
  • Board composition and aspects of diversity; and
  • Board operations.

100 housing associations responded to the survey.

Key takeaways

Summarising the key takeaways from Campbell Tickell’s Board Survey, Stephen Bull, Senior Consultant, notes:

Our survey results shows that Board pay is now more widespread, with a number of smaller organisations paying some, if not all of their Board. Interestingly, payments have not significantly increased on previous years, most likely reflecting the fact that we are still a largely charitable sector.

Centrally, having a diverse Board is extremely important. While payment can encourage a wider pool of applicants, it is down to Boards to really commit to this.
