The British Heart Foundation Governance Review

Case Study

The British Heart Foundation Governance Review

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) commissioned Campbell Tickell to conduct an external governance review in 2023.

The Brief

The BHF is one of the most recognisable charities in the UK and the largest independent funder of cardiovascular research. In March 2023 the BHF commissioned CT to conduct an external governance review.

"At a time of growth in our ambition and resources we worked with CT to reflect on the alignment of our governance and strategy, and how to optimise how we work with the talented senior volunteers who make up our expert Boards, Committees and Advisory Groups. The review provided clear assurance and also helpfully identified areas to enhance how we even further work across the organisation to accelerate our work to save and improve lives."

Chief Executive, British Heart Foundation

Our Approach

Building on a foundation of good governance the BHF was looking to ensure that its governance was prepared to support its ambitions and approach for the future.

01

CT met with the BHF at an early stage to understand the charity’s context  and clarify expectations and outcomes for the project.

02

CT undertook all the traditional elements of a governance review.

03

CT was in close contact with Chair and CEO as part of the process, to ensure  they were fully aware of progress and that there were no surprises in the final report.
