Case Study
Independent workplace culture and leadership investigation

The Challenge
A client n commissioned Campbell Tickell to undertake an independent investigation following concerns raised by a senior executive regarding organisational culture, leadership style and the expectations associated with their role. The allegations included claims of a toxic workplace culture, poor management practice, and unrealistic performance expectations.
Our Approach
Recognising the sensitivity of the issues and the potential impact on organisational effectiveness, we conducted a comprehensive and impartial investigation that included:
01
Detailed interviews with the complainant and chief executive.
02
Interviews with the wider workforce to understand organisational culture and working relationships.
03
Review of supporting documentation, correspondence and performance records.
04
Assessment of leadership behaviours, management practices and organisational processes.
05
Evidence-based findings and recommendations designed to support future success.
The Outcome
Our investigation found that the headline concerns were not substantiated by the evidence available or the experiences of other employees. While the core allegations were not upheld, the review identified opportunities to improve communication, strengthen management processes and enhance working relationships. We made targeted recommendations, including the use of mediation, improvements to performance management processes and actions to support clearer expectations and more effective collaboration.
Impact
The organisation was able to:
01
Obtain independent assurance regarding workplace culture and leadership practices.
02
Address a sensitive grievance through a fair and transparent process.
03
Resolve areas of misunderstanding and workplace tension.
04
Identify practical improvements to management and governance processes.
05
Create a platform for rebuilding trust and strengthening working relationships.
