Audit and Risk Committee review

Case Study

Audit and Risk Committee review

We were commissioned to conduct a Review of Audit and Risk Committee Effectiveness for 8,000-unit London-based Housing Association, Newlon Housing Trust.

The Brief

The organisation wished to gain an objective understanding of how well the committee was discharging its duties, and how far committee members understood their responsibilities.

“Our assessment allowed the committee to build on its strengths and address areas for improvement on an ongoing basis.”

Our Approach

We worked on the following:

01

We conducted an online survey to assess the current effectiveness of the committee. The results of this survey were then incorporated into the design of a workshop with the committee members.

02

The workshop’s discussion focused on their current effectiveness, potential areas for improvement and examples of best practice from other organisations.

The Results

As a result of participating in our workshop, members of the Audit and Risk Committee clarified their understanding of their role and responsibilities. The assessment of effectiveness furthermore allowed the committee to build on its strengths and address areas for improvement on an ongoing basis.
