Lessons from the Regulator of Social Housing Consumer grades
Sue Harvey, a Director at Campbell Tickell, provides an analysis of how social housing landlords are performing under a new regulatory regime introduced in April 2024. This regime focuses on consumer standards, assessing how well landlords meet their responsibilities to tenants, especially in areas like repairs, safety, and tenant engagement.
She discusses how the Regulator of Social Housing has been inspecting landlords and issuing consumer grades (C1 to C4) to reflect their level of compliance. These inspections cover both housing associations and local authorities, though this is the first time local authorities are being proactively assessed on these standards.
