Video – The future of older people’s housing: how do we develop the housing needed?

In the UK, nearly 11 million people (19% of the population) are aged 65 and over. This will rise to 22% (almost 13 million) within a decade. By 2051, the social and ethnic minority population aged 65+ in England and Wales is projected to increase five-fold to 3.8 million, with 2.7 million from non-white backgrounds. This growth is particularly significant in London with its significant diverse population make-up.

To highlight the pressures on housing demand, delivery, and demographics, a solution-oriented discussion is proposed.

This webinar explores the ways in which older person’s housing challenges and opportunities can be addressed, outlining key challenges and how they can be met. It draws on evidence APPG on Housing and Care for Older People’s recent taskforce report and Ministerial Statement. Additionally, the webinar features insights from registered providers, local authority and government departments, working in this area.
