Eddie Magowan

Eddie is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants with significant senior financial management experience from time served across a range of private, public and third sector bodies, including a number of years as finance director with two of the largest housing associations on the island of Ireland. As Director of Finance & ICT with Radius Housing in NI he played a key role in the merger that led to the creation of the Association and in that role also served as Finance Director of Fold Ireland, a Dublin-based Approved Housing Body providing general needs accommodation and supported housing with 24-hour care. From October 2020 – May 2021 he served as interim Director of Finance at Treasury at Clúid Housing Association, Ireland’s largest Approved Housing Body.

For much of his career, he held senior management responsibility for the development of business plans and the construction of financial models to support scenario planning, risk analysis, sensitivity and stress testing. He has direct experience of securing major investment for social housing development and at Radius initiated preparations for a formal credit rating as a prelude to a £150m private placement.

He has valuable hands-on experience of mergers and acquisitions, having played a key role in developing the financial plan that underpinned the creation of Radius Housing and in the rapid growth through acquisition of managed IT service provider Sx3 where he was Commercial Director.

As a former Director with the Northern Ireland Hospice and member of the Executive Committee of the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action, he understands the issues and challenges faced by social enterprises, and continues to serve as a Trustee with Homeless Connect (formerly the Council for the Homeless in NI).

Eddie became a consultant in 2019. He has worked with Campbell Tickell on a range of assignments, including for Irish Council for Social Housing, Crisis, DePaul Ireland, South West Housing Society, St Vincent de Paul, Tamar Housing Society, Inspire Wellbeing, the Salvation Army Trustee Company, Clanmil Housing Association, Túath Housing Association, Circle Voluntary Housing Association, Clúid Housing Association, The Finchley Charities, Clanmil Ireland, Industrial Dwellings Society, Teacher’s Housing Association, Hundred Houses Society and L&G Affordable Housing.
