Non-Executive Director – BexleyCo Homes
BexleyCo, a new development company, has been created by the London Borough of Bexley to invest £15m in the community by creating affordable new homes for local residents, so they can remain within the Borough, which in turn will generate vital funding for the London Borough of Bexley.
About the role
Over the next ten years’ BexleyCo’s objectives are to deliver 1,200 attractive affordable homes for sale and rent, putting local people first, with the ambition to increase to 2,500. The first five sites will provide much needed private, rented and shared ownership properties. We will also play a vital role in supporting the Council’s wider growth by supporting the local economy through jobs, training opportunities and both direct and indirect investment, stimulating growth and regeneration through an exemplar approach to the design, marketing, sale and management of our new homes.
This new vacancy arises on our Board as the result of the need to strengthen our expertise in the areas of site identification, land appraisal and purchase, and/or housing sales and marketing. We are looking for someone who is likely to be operating at, or recently retired from, a board level in the private house building sector or in a senior development or commercial role within a housing association. You will have proven leadership skills, be able to see the bigger picture and can influence our strategic thinking. Additionally, you will also need the credibility and confidence to engage with our key stakeholders and a keen understanding of the nuances of working closely with our sole shareholder.
