Chair of Audit and Risk – Hexagon Housing Association

Location(s): Sydenham, London
Closing date: 21 Oct 2022
Salary: £7,000 per annum

About the role

Are you an experienced Chair or member of an Audit & Risk Committee, who has senior level risk management experience, coupled with executive level financial and audit skills, and can bring an experienced eye to the finances of a regulated organisation?

If you have any of these personal and professional skills, Hexagon would like to talk to you about joining our Board as a new member.

We have recently successfully issued a £250m public bond which was well oversubscribed, and which has given us new capacity for growth and additional resources to deliver our fire safety and net zero carbon ambitions. Like the whole of the social housing sector, we are, however, facing the considerable financial challenges of inflation, increased costs of borrowing and the financial pressures on the cost of living for many residents whose homes we manage.

We are ambitious for the modernisation of the services we provide to residents, innovation in the way the organisation operates and for increasing our contribution to a net increase in the amount of social housing in SE London.

We have a Board whose backgrounds and identities are significantly varied. We value robust discussion to reach the best solutions for the residents and the health of the organisation. We want you to bring your particular story and difference to the Board and contribute in your own way to our diversity, because we believe that will best equip us to map our way through the tough challenges we and the sector face. For instance, we would particularly welcome applications from people living with a physical disability as the challenges they face through their mobility can add very valuable perspective to how we design, build and manage residents’ homes and the physical spaces around them. We would also value the experience of those who have encountered mental health or developmental issues.
