Chair of Audit and Risk Committee – Phoenix Community Housing
About the role
We are one of the few resident-led housing associations in the UK. Established in 2007, we are a not-for-profit landlord managing more than 7,800 homes in south London. Our community gateway model places residents at the heart of decision making, scrutiny and steering our direction of travel. Under our rules both the Chair and Vice Chair of our Board must be Phoenix tenants and residents are the largest group on our Board. This is a rare opportunity to join our Board as an Independent Board Member and Chair of our Audit and Risk Committee.
Our new Chair of Audit and Risk Committee will help us continue all the good work at Phoenix. Having recently grown by 1500 homes we still have much to do to continue to deliver our exciting development plans investing in the area we serve.
You will need to get actively involved in our upcoming governance review and help us deal with the challenge of carbon net zero and embedding our customer services strategy.
We are open about your sector background but you will need to be a finance professional with a good awareness of governance principles and insight into how this Committee ensures that assurance systems support organisational control and ambition. You will have had previous non-executive experience and be able to demonstrate empathy and commitment to the values of a resident led social landlord.
We work in a diverse and vibrant community and we are keen to ensure our Board reflects that. If you think you have what it takes to be our next Chair of Audit and Risk Committee in this unique organisation and want to operate in an environment that not only celebrates diversity but is committed to changing the narrative of those who may be facing a range of barriers, then we would welcome your application.
