Brighter Futures for Children – Deputy Director Children’s Services: Children’s Social Care
We are looking to complete our permanent skilled leadership team with a Deputy Director to champion the development of our Children’s Social Care Services. With good staff morale and full service commitment, our children’s outcomes are improving, but there is still more to do.
About the role

We are working with partners to create a local authority owned company to support our unrelenting focus on high quality outcomes for children. The new organisation will raise the profile of Reading’s children’s services, provide expert support to managers and staff, including local stakeholders and will be part of Reading’s wider public service team.
“Brighter Futures for Children” is anticipated to go live Autumn 2018 and will be formed by current staff members who have local knowledge and an excellent understanding of the needs of the Borough. The Company will be enabled and owned by the Council but controlled and run by its Directors with a dedicated leadership team and operational independence.
This is a unique opportunity to join the new team and an organisation that wants to build and deliver excellent services. The new Deputy Director of Children’s Social Care will work closely with the Director of Children’s Services to lead the delivery of strong, integrated and responsive safeguarding and children’s social care services. We are making significant headway and currently driving through a progressive and ambitious Improvement Plan which includes stabilising our workforce for the future.
