Board Member Recruitment – Golden Lane Housing
About the role
Golden Lane Housing is one of the UK’s leading providers of housing for people with a learning disability, currently supporting nearly 2,500 tenants across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the founding of our organisation. We are looking forward to welcoming two new Board Members to join us this year, to support and contribute to our growth, and to help maintain our award-winning standards of excellence ready for the next 25 years.
A year on from our demerger with Mencap, we continue to mature and develop as an independent organisation. While we still work closely with Mencap, and other care support and providers, we have made good progress in the last 12 months, establishing new systems and new strategies to carry us forward and solidify our position as an independent provider of housing to meet the needs of people with a learning disability and autistic people who often struggle to find suitable housing.
We have just had our most successful year for development yet, and our ambition for expanding our provision is stronger than ever – we see a lot of unmet demand that we are very well placed to meet, and we have firm plans to keep growing our provision.
For our Board Member roles, we are seeking candidates who bring senior strategic experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas: finance/ audit; strategic IT and use of technology in social housing; or involvement with tenants and customers with a learning disability or autistic people. Prior Board experience is not a requirement, and this role may be a good opportunity for someone seeking their first Board appointment.
Whilst housing sector experience would be useful, we would welcome applications from those with relevant technical expertise from the commercial sector. We especially welcome interest from candidates with lived experience of or a personal connection with learning disabilities and are also keen to hear from ethnic minority applicants to help us ensure our Board reflects the diversity of our tenants.
