Board Members (x3) – South Yorkshire Housing Association
About the role
At SYHA, we are proud of our reputation for delivering exemplary social impact, innovation, and of our unwavering commitment to customers. We work across South Yorkshire, providing nearly 6000 homes, and providing services to 10,000 customers.
While we are a social housing business, we also provide a wide mix of successful and innovative services including supported housing, homelessness, mental health, social prescribing, employment support, build for sale, and a high-street estate agency.
It’s been a significant year at SYHA. The organisation celebrated turning 50 years old, and we were delighted to welcome our new CEO Larry Gold. But we are in a challenging business period and are currently involved in a high degree of regulatory engagement. With this context in mind, we are looking for a new Chair and three new NEDs to join our Board to help steer the business, building a strong and financially resilient organisation, and delivering on our aspirations for future service excellence and innovation.
For the Chair role, you will bring chairing experience and honed leadership skills, recent experience in the social housing sector at Board level, and a developed understanding of what good governance looks like across an organisation in our sector. You will bring the drive and enthusiasm to bring about positive change, driving improvements in financial resilience, and developing and sustaining a high performing Board.
For the Board roles, we are seeking professionals operating at senior level in either housing or other relevant sectors (health, care, voluntary/third sector etc), and ideally bringing prior Board experience. We are especially keen to hear from candidates with a senior background in one or more of the following: finance, health and social care, governance, and property/asset management.
These roles will play a critical leadership role in this next important stage of our organisational journey as we go through a period of real change. If you share our passion about contributing to an organisation that combines a strong sense of social purpose with robust business thinking, then we would love to hear from you.
