Assistant Director for Housing – Solihull Council
About the role
Making Solihull a great place to live for all
We care deeply about housing in our Borough, recognising its significant impact on community wellbeing, sustainability, and regional prosperity. When you read our new housing strategy, you will see the critical role that housing plays in tackling inequality. Importantly the strategy covers social, private, and supported housing, to enable us to take a rounded view of the issues and solutions.
As the champion for our housing strategy, this new Assistant Director postholder is going to be hugely influential. With oversight of the main social housing provider (the ALMO, Solihull Community Housing), you will also be co-ordinating the input of a range of other statutory, voluntary, commercial and community organisations, as well as the Borough’s residents and communities. The work you will oversee is vital given the increasing focus on homelessness, building safety, compliance, and assurance, as well as preparation for housing regulatory reform.
You will need a senior track record in housing, with strong project management abilities and be intuitive in managing a matrix of stakeholder relationships. With effective influencing, negotiating and communication skills, you will place a premium upon collaborative effort to make things happen.
Solihull Council has a central role in the local housing market, acting as influencer, investor, provider, and regulator. You could be at the heart of this, so contact us to find out more about this exciting opportunity.
Solihull Council is proud to be an equal opportunities employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees – a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed on merit.
