Good Practice

Code of Service Delivery and Accountability - under development for the National Housing Federation by Campbell Tickell. The latest draft of the Code is available for download and comment. The aim of the Code is to inspire housing associations to excel, so they deliver their best for tenants, residents and the wider community. It is being developed following consultations with tenants and responses to an online questionnaire. The Federation is now seeking further feedback from members and tenants. The final version of the Code will be published on 29 January 2009.

With the best of intentions - Learning from problem cases [3] - report for the Housing Corporation by Campbell Tickell, published July 2006. The report analyses 19 failing housing associations and the reasons for their failure: "Leading up to the problems, we see lack of Board control, Board inexperience and lack of awareness of the organisation's real position. Complacency, often driven by lack of Board renewal, plays a strong part. Failure to challenge the decisions of the executive team is another frequent feature - whether because relationships have become too cosy, or because the expertise and confidence to do so is lacking."
